Blockbuster’s On Demand movie service has been available for Android, OS X and Windows for quite some time now, but iOS users can finally join in on the fun. The company officially released its iOS application on Thursday, which will no doubt compete with rental offerings from Apple itself.
The service allows you to rent movies for as low as $2.99, and you’ll need to enter your credit card information in order to get started. The company promises that the application will provide thousands of movies, including new releases, ratings from Rotten Tomatoes, the ability to stream instantly instead of waiting for a download to finish, HD movie support, surround sound audio and no subscription fees.
It’s unclear how well Blockbuster has been faring against its rivals, especially since Google and Apple both allow you to rent movies, too. The application is free and can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store now.
